As much as we enjoy spending time researching American culture and family heritages, we often think and ponder about the best way to care for and protect the history left in remembrance of our past.
The engravings on headstones are disappearing rapidly from the stones, depending on the type of stone used and the age of the original engravings. Concerns of vandalism, graves sinking, or being covered by dirt and grass are some examples that have sparked our curiosity.
We’ve noticed a lot of destruction, but also an uptick in people fixing or preserving stones. Preservation and conservation are also the preservation of history, our historic cultures, and world history.
What concerns do you have about preserving our past and remembering our history? We would love to hear from you on this educational journey.

There was a time in American life that cemeteries were the public green spaces for promenades and picnics. Being out in nature. That is what inspired public parks. Now you rarely see people at cemeteries.
I’ve noticed that also. Some cemeteries have regular walkers on the weekends. Thinking and getting exorcize I’m guessing.
