Stitches and Buttons

Today, after finishing some studies and a meeting with my business partner, we had an interesting experience which happened towards the end of our grave explorations. The story does not start here, as we were tricked by our funny, mischievous, and ghostly mascot, “Stitches.”

This is not the first time I have encountered unusual circumstances and events that seem to fall outside the norm of my understanding of reality. My business partner and I had a similar experience when revisiting an antique store in the historic town of New Richmond, Ohio. “Grandma Buttons” and “Stitches” seem to be working together like stitched-on buttons from a military uniform.

The military buttons I had purchased on a whim, quickly returning to the counter to purchase, were more than an emotional buy; it was a spiritual connection I felt. I carefully placed those buttons inside the right drawer of my desk for sentimental inspiration; however, I did not fully understand what might have just happened.

Several months of studies passed, and I didn’t think much about the buttons. Then I started noticing little changes happening around me after studying the button industry during the world wars. Women workers supporting war efforts, according to understanding and reasoning. “Grandma Buttons” somehow was fitting for a friendly old ghost still serving her country.

Then there is “Stitches”. He possesses an entirely different type of ghostly personality: Mischievous and funny. I don’t mind him messing around with me, as long as he does not mess with me when working. He already did that to me when I first put him on the site. I instantly had a website problem, and it took me a bit to figure out which setting I had messed up. It was not a setting at all. The problem was an incorrect photo size of the “stitches photo” that seemed to mess everything up. Sneaky little thing… That cost me hours of work.

Being in the business of ghost hunting is something I’m kinda used to, but my business partner is not too thrilled with what happened today. We had made our final rounds heading back to our vehicles when we stopped to look at a grave on the corner of the old cemetery building, which was built near the train tracks running just outside the old wire fence.

I had reached down to pick up a broken piece of a grave marker when I heard a soda can that I had previously walked by move with the sound of an aluminum can being kicked or moved to draw some attention to it.

“Did you see that?” my partner asked with an excitable fear.

“No, but I did hear it!”

“I saw a hand or something reach out and move that can!” She had exclaimed.

“Didn’t see it, but I heard it”, as I stood there a bit puzzled about the situation.

It was not till later in the evening, just before writing this post, that I realized it was Stitches who had once again played a trick on me for Halloween from the post I made several nights before.

“Stitches,” He pops up now and then. My post seemed to inspire Stitches to pop up with him moving a soda “pop can” as we walked by. Maybe that was him letting us know he is watching, and if we are lucky, maybe Stitches will help us have more mischief fun sharing ghost stories in the future.

I wonder where Stitches is going to pop up next?
